We stay true to these values in how we support our people, serve our customers, and give back to communities. By putting people first and constantly innovating, we create meaningful connections and deliver exceptional, people focused experiences – brought to life through the stories of our colleagues around the world.

Today, we’re spotlighting Jeff and Lucy - two team members who are not only advancing their careers, but also helping to create inclusive, welcoming spaces for teammates, customers and communities alike.

Lucy’s Story: Building Community and Leading with Empathy

Lucy joined Enterprise Mobility in 2023 as a Graduate Management Trainee and quickly made an impact. She progressed Management Assistant in just 10 months and soon after earned her second promotion to Assistant Manager. Reflecting on her journey, she shares: “During my time as an Assistant Manager I have learnt so much and look forward to what the future holds.”

A standout part of her experience has been helping to promote an inclusive culture within her branch: “Working with two other LGBTQ+ colleagues, we have an excellent work community where we can discuss and create a safe space for all team members - not just in my branch but throughout the whole area.”

Lucy and her team also attend Pride events together, representing both Enterprise Mobility and their own identities - an experience she describes with pride: “We attend Pride events together representing not only the organisation but also our individual Pride.”

Her personal journey has shaped the leader she strives to be: “Being an approachable colleague is one of my main priorities. I felt comfortable approaching any of my managers when I was on the Graduate Management Training Programme, and I wanted to replicate that experience with my current team.”

When asked how teammates can be better allies, Lucy offers thoughtful advice: “A good ally does not need to know everything but instead has the time to learn and listen. Biases are normal, but understanding why we have them is crucial.”

Her advice for interviews centres on authenticity: “Be yourself and don’t be afraid to ask questions! Everybody at Enterprise Mobility has been in your position and understands.”

What drew her to Enterprise Mobility in the first place? “One founding value in particular stuck out for me - ‘Our doors are always open.’ Promoting an inclusive environment for everybody.”

Jeff’s Journey: Growing a Career While Championing Authenticity

Jeff began his Enterprise Mobility career in 1999 as a Management Trainee in Baltimore, US. Reflecting on those early days, he shares: “Many of us begin our career progression journey in the rental branches. I appreciated the growth opportunities that the rental operations provided, but I saw an opportunity to impact change on a broader level as a member of Human Resources.”

That desire to contribute more broadly led him into HR, where he advanced from Coordinator to Generalist to Group HR Manager - eventually joining the HR team in Germany in 2021. For Jeff, HR is fundamentally about people, not processes: “In HR, our job is to support all team members in both their personal and professional development as leaders who live the organisation’s founding values.”

A key part of that support comes through openness. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community, Jeff has long believed in the impact of sharing his story: “I take very seriously the importance of sharing my experiences, to audiences ranging from New Hire Orientation to diversity workshops.”

When asked what makes Enterprise Mobility special, Jeff smiles at one memory that has stayed with him since his early career: “Friends and family have always said, ‘You all have so much FUN at work.’ And they are right.”He recalls a story told by his first General Manager: “

My first General Manager loved to tell the story of Jack Taylor calling branches and asking two questions - ‘Are you having fun?’ and ‘Did you learn something today?’ That sums Enterprise Mobility up for me.”

His advice to future candidates remains simple and rooted in authenticity: “Present yourself authentically. Do your homework and ask questions. Turn the Q&A into a conversation about how you intend to utilise your strengths within our mission.”
