So. Who else doesn’t know what to do with their lives? When I left university that is exactly how I felt. The pressure of finding any work is immense in the current climate, let alone having the ability to choose a career. The doubt kicks in after that final glass of congratulatory graduation champagne. You look back over the past three or four years and ponder on whether the vocational route may not have been such a bad idea after all. Remember that feeling? It was somewhere between falling asleep during the guest speech and the parental conversation regarding job applications on the drive home.
Doctors become doctors and teachers become teachers but what do the rest of us do? We soldier on searching for our niche and the Enterprise Rent-A-Car Graduate Management Trainee programme could very well be yours.
What Enterprise offers is a unique opportunity to those with a diverse range of key skills and a fundamental willingness to work hard to achieve great things.
The Enterprise Rent-A-Car Graduate Management Trainee programme is not for the faint-hearted (or those that want a lie-in in the morning). It is a fast-paced business environment where you get to experience multiple areas of a business from day one:
Where else offers you industry experience like this?
I have been with the company for nearly four months now and I thrive on the variety of everyday branch life. In March I was a nervous new recruit hoping to find my feet in a daunting new role for the world’s largest car rental company and today I am personally responsible for thousands of pounds worth of assets as I run a branch on my own. Does that sound crazy to you? It would have, to me too, but not now. And that’s because I have seen first-hand that this is a company where career progression and employee investment is imperative to its own success.
The initial application process is challenging but it sets you up nicely for the weeks ahead. After classroom orientation sessions you are placed in branch and it’s over to you. As the first point of call for the general public it is your job to promote the brand that is Enterprise Rent-A-Car. No two days are ever the same and within only a morning’s work, tasks may vary from booking in retail customers to meeting with corporate accounts.
At 25 years old I wasn’t looking for another job, I was looking for a career and that is what Enterprise offers.
The next few months are going to present many challenges as I look to push on and complete my training and seek out a promotion. And the fact that I am even able to write a sentence like that demonstrates in no uncertain terms that this really is a role that puts emphasis on personal development.
My advice to all recent (and the not so recent) graduates who desire the same thing is to get in touch today and apply now to our wide range of spring and summer internships, as well as graduate jobs.
