For Michael, a Lead Mechanic in Enterprise Mobility’s Enterprise Flex-E-Rent division in the South West, that journey has been shaped not only by career progression but also by a commitment to giving back and volunteering.
From Mechanic to Team Leader
Michael started as a Mobile Mechanic nearly 19 years ago. He joined Enterprise Flex-E-Rent through an acquisition and seized the opportunity to upskill and progress - becoming a Master Mechanic, then an Area Representative, and now a Lead Mechanic overseeing a team of mobile mechanics.
“The role is ever-changing and rewarding,” Michael says. “I particularly enjoy focusing on employee development and compliance. The key is fostering a close team ethos.”
Community Giving as a Catalyst for Growth
Michael’s passion for helping others extends beyond the workplace. For years, he and his wife have supported and volunteered at Shekinah, a Plymouth-based charity that provides homelessness support.
“I volunteer at the soup kitchen and help deliver food. It’s humbling and rewarding - especially on Christmas Day when everyone comes together.”
Michaels efforts are supported through Enterprise Mobility's “My Purpose. My Time.” benefit, where team members can devote paid time off to volunteer for an organisation or cause of their choice. Through the Enterprise Mobility Employee Grants Programme, Michael was also able to apply for a charitable grant of £1,500 on behalf of Shekinah.
